Species Name: Cryptanthus bivittatus ‘Pink’

Defining Characteristics: 

• Striped tapered leaves have tiny teeth with wavy margins that come in an array of red and pink tones
• Although they are a member of the Bromeliaceae family, Cryptanthus are terrestrial and grow in the soil using their roots to absorb water and nutrients rather than using a cup to store water like other bromeliads
• Recommended as a foreground plant as it will quickly form clusters of small, upright growths with pink leaves
